Former England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has been confirmed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year.He follows in the footsteps of many ex-football stars to join the show that sees celebrities try their hand in the ballroom.Wright-Phillips has been announced as the latest contestant on Strictly Come DancingPAThe official Strictly Instagram account revealed on Thursday: “Time to lace up the dancing shoes. Welcome to Strictly, former England international footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips!”Wright-Phillips then went on to announce the news on his own social media too, speaking directly to his followers.“I am very excited to announce, I am joining the class of Strictly Come Dancing 2026,” the ex-Manchester City forward said. “I’m really hoping I can chuck some shapes and make everyone proud.”He also said to the BBC: “Dancing is in my blood—but mainly at family events! Strictly is definitely outside my comfort zone, but I’m super excited to get started and really looking forward to the challenge!”The 44-year-old has received some supportive messages from ex-teammates and other footballers following the news. Man City legend Paul Dickov wrote: “Yes wee man!!!
