A Texas Roadhouse server says she overheard two customers talking about her in Spanish as they left her section, not realizing she understood every word. The server, who posts under the username @miska_mooska21 on TikTok, shared the story in a video that has drawn 1.2 million views and more than 205,400 likes. According to the server, she waited on a table with two couples seated together at a booth. She said the visit started off fine, but one woman at the table grew increasingly short with her and with another server as the night went on. The server said the trouble began even before drinks were ordered, when she checked IDs for the group. She said she tried to lighten the mood with a joke, telling them, “Oh girl, I don’t even know how to read these. Like, I was just like, I just need to make sure you’re not a narc for real.” She said the group laughed, and things seemed fine at that point. When she asked the table if they needed anything, she said the woman gave a flat “We’re good” and appeared bothered. The server said a coworker also had a negative interaction with the same woman while running out an appetizer. According to the server, her coworker asked to pass a plate away from the table, and the response included a curt “please” that struck both servers as rude. The server said this was the second time the woman had been short with a member of the staff, and it upset her. She said the situation escalated near the end of the meal, when the table did not clear space for her to collect plates. She said she was holding drinks for other tables at the time and could not reach across the booth easily. She said the woman then swung a basket toward her. The server said she did not throw anything back, but placed the basket down near the woman with some visible attitude before walking away. As the group left, the server said she heard them speaking Spanish, apparently unaware that she understood the language. She quoted the woman as saying, “Es que me lo tiró, o sea, le pasé la canasta, o sea, me la tiró, o sea, tiene una actitud bien fea,” which translates to accusing the server of throwing the basket and having a bad attitude. The server responded to that moment in her video, saying, “I’ve been nice this whole time.” She said she had let earlier rude comments go but felt frustrated that the woman had now spoken negatively about her a second time, this time assuming she would not understand. For servers, difficult shifts can involve more than rude customers, as one Texas Roadhouse employee described a party of 14 allegedly staring at her. The server said the group’s bill came to about $120 and they left a $5 tip. She closed her video with a message directed at customers in general, saying, “please don’t be rude to service workers,” and adding that servers are simply trying to do their jobs and get a tip.
