Indian Railways ordered to pay Rs 25,000 after RAC passenger was forced to share blanket, pillow with stranger

The Delhi Consumer Commission ordered Indian Railways to pay Rs 25,000 to a passenger. This passenger received only one blanket while sharing a berth on an RAC ticket. The commission cited a Railway Board circular which mandates adequate bedding for such passengers. Railways were held liable for deficiency in service and mental harassment caused. The national transporter must pay the compensation within sixty days of the order.
