Much like Yellowstone, Dutton Ranch was a smash hit on the 2026 TV schedule. The return of Rip and Beth was met with open arms, and it introduced us to a whole new cast of characters. Now, the wait is on for Season 2, so I’m flashing back to this crew’s first days on set, and Natalie Alyn Lind’s comments about why meeting Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser for the first time was trippy. Natalie Alyn Lind, who plays Oreana Jackson, was one of many new additions to an ensemble that was led by Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Finn Little. So, when I interviewed her, I asked what it was like to meet the stars who were returning to play such beloved and established characters. Here’s what she had to say about them: I mean, for me, as a fan of just Yellowstone and obviously Beth and Rip, it was so, I don't know, jarring, I would say. But the moment that you start talking to both of them, they're such kind people. And if you love their characters on the show, you would just fall in love with them in real life even more. So they just made it so comfortable. “Jarring” or trippy would 100% be the words I’d use if I were walking onto a set for a show about the Dutton family for the first time. Hauser and Reilly had been playing Rip and Beth for five seasons before doing this spinoff, so Lind knew she was not entering a new world, and as a fan of Yellowstone, that was a wild experience. However, Reilly and Hauser welcomed the Oreana actress with open arms, and she said she quickly became “so comfortable” around them. Overall, this experience felt a whole lot like the first day of school. So, there were jitters and nerves at first. However, once they got into the work, all those nerves went away, as Natalie Alyn Lind explained: It was one of those things where anytime you go onto a new show, there's kind of that hesitation, and you have those first-day jitters the same way before you go to school for the first time. And the moment that you get on set and you're able to just communicate with them and talk with them as real people, all the worries, all the fears, just kind of flood right out.Well, that sounds lovely. While the experience was trippy, especially since the actress was a fan of Yellowstone going in, her worries quickly subsided, and she was able to easily work alongside her co-stars. Of course, not everything was easy on Dutton Ranch. With a showrunner change and comments from Ed Harris about his frustrations and Hauser and Reilly about how hard making the Yellowstone spinoff was, it was no walk in the park to get this project made. However, the cast is thrilled about Season 2, and Cole Hauser made it clear that he believes the “future is bright” for Dutton Ranch. Plus, with those first-day jitters out of the way and a whole season of work under their belts, I’d imagine the new cast members, including Lind, cannot wait to return too. We’ll have to wait a bit, though, for all that. So, in the meantime, you can go back and watch Oreana’s first interactions with Rip and Beth by streaming Dutton Ranch with a Paramount+ subscription.
