The 4-year-old Graham Motion runner kicked off the year winning the GI Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational and also won last year's GI Belmont Derby en route to earning more than $2.2-million for Amerman Racing LLC.“I think his general toughness (is his defining attribute),” Motion said. “He's always so consistent, so game. Last year I worried a little bit whether he'd really stay that far. But this year's races have indicated he should handle it. I think a mile and a quarter should suit him very well.”Burnham Square | Coady MediaDrawn just inside, 5-2 morning-line favorite Burnham Square (Liam's Map) puts his three-race win streak on the line and has been a monster since switching to the turf just about one year ago.“He's a very cocky horse,” trainer Ian Wilkes said of his runner. “He's very confident in himself. He's got a lot of little quirks about him, and he's cocky with it. If he were a colt, you'd definitely know about it. Thank God he's a gelding–but he's still a little quirky.”Never worse than second in five career turf starts, Burnham Square won at Keeneland earlier this year by nearly 10 lengths in the GII Elkhorn Stakes, then took the GIII Louisville Stakes May 16 at Churchill and the 1 3/8-mile Chorleywood Stakes June 13.“He's doing good,” Wilkes said. “I'm very happy with him. He hasn't missed a beat. He's right on target where I want him to be, so I'm looking forward to it.”Trainer Shug McGaughey is well-versed in the Arlington Million, bringing a pair to Virginia Saturday including Integration (Quality Road) who contests his third straight edition and Fort Washington (War Front) who will seek to defend his title after winning the event last year. The younger of the two, 6-year-old Integration ran third to his stablemate before getting time off, returning nine months later. A winner at Aqueduct facing allowance horses, he wound up fifth beaten just 1 3/4 lengths in the aforementioned Manhattan. Fort Washington breaks just to his inside and took this race last year with a come-from-behind run. Another making his stakes debut is Qatar Racing's Infiltrate (Oscar Performance), who also makes his 3-year-old debut Saturday off an over eight-month layoff dating back to an off-the-turf allowance win at Churchill in November.“We were trying to get on the turf at the end of his 2-year-old campaign but it got taken off,” trainer Brendan Walsh said. “The turf has always been the intention with him. He's plenty talented on dirt, too, and we can always go back to it. This is a tall order for him off the layoff, but it's hard to get an allowance race for a two-time winning 3-year-old to go. So you kind of got to throw them in at the deep end, in a way.”The fillies and mares feature in the GII Beverly D. Stakes with 3-1 morning-line favorite Stellify (Justify) looming for Brad Cox. Like Infiltrate, she's making her first start of the year as a 5-year-old but she put up four straight wins last season and finished seventh in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf in her last start. GI Kentucky Derby second Renegade (Into Mischief) and GI Belmont Stakes second Commandment (Into Mischief) face off in a field that doesn't include the runner they both lost to, Golden Tempo (Curlin).“I think Golden Tempo has got to be the leader of the division based on the Derby and the Belmont win. So, we need to run the table to have any chance to unseat him at this stage,” Renegade's trainer Todd Pletcher said. “I think if he were lucky enough to do something like that, then maybe you can make an argument. We're more focused on trying to do well in the Jim Dandy and the Travers and see what we can do.”Commandment at Saratoga | Sarah AndrewGI Florida Derby winner Commandment will add blinkers for Brad Cox and Wathnan Racing.“I'm super pleased with what he's done since the Belmont, and I think he's set up for a big run,” Cox said. “He had a good breeze [last week], galloped out well and he always stays on in his works.
