Parents’ body urges continuation of existing medical admissions norms in Andhra Pradesh - The HinduPublished - July 31, 2026 07:09 pm IST - GUNTURThe Andhra Pradesh Medicos Parents Association has urged the State government to continue implementing G.O. Ms. No. 151, dated December 4, 2020, and reconsider the recently issued G.O. Ms. No. 102, dated July 30, 2026, relating to medical admissions conducted by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.In a representation submitted to the University, association president Ala Venkateswarlu said the provisions of G.O. Ms. No. 102 appeared to be inconsistent with the directions issued by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in W.P. No. 11018 of 2019. The writ petition arose from grievances raised by students belonging to reserved categories during the 2019 medical admissions.The association said the High Court had directed the constitution of a six-member expert committee to recommend a transparent admission procedure that would uphold the objectives of the reservation policy. Based on the committee’s recommendations, the government issued G.O. Ms. No. 151 in December 2020.It said medical admissions had since been conducted under the existing system without complaints, ensuring transparency and safeguarding the interests of students from reserved categories. The association expressed concern that discontinuing the “All Options” method could weaken the admission process and adversely affect the effective implementation of reservation.It urged the government to reconsider G.O. Ms. No. 102, retain the “All Options” system during counselling, and continue implementing G.O.
