South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan has confirmed the departure of head coach Hugo Broos following their historic World Cup campaign. The decision was announced on Friday, which was the final day of Broos' contract, and the 74-year-old departs five years after taking charge of South Africa. Broos was appointed in 2019 and oversaw 60 matches across all competitions, winning 29 of those (D19 L12) and posting a win ratio of 46.2%. The Belgian's arrival came after South Africa's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, and he led the team to a third-place finish in the 2023 edition. He then helped Bafana Bafana qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 24 years and marked their first appearance in the tournament since 2010, when they were hosts, by overseeing their run to the last 32 in North America.
