Serie A Clubs are reportedly furious due to being excluded from the decision making process of appointing the new Italy manager, with some calling it as "a national team in the hands of an inner circle from north Rome". While the clubs wanted the return of Antonio Conte, and proposed to pay part of his wages trough sponsors, the key issue is not having been involved on the appointment of the manager by FIGC president Roberto Malagò, after they had supported his candidacy against his opponent Giancarlo Abete.
