Just 5 minutes ago, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnia & Herzegovina. The tremor was recorded early morning on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, at 4:21 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 5.20 km below the surface.The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0.Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Pale (pop. 7,500) located 3 km from the epicenter, Koran (pop. 3,400) 4 km away, Sarajevo (pop. 696,700) 15 km away, and Vogosca (pop. 8,200) 17 km away.Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Ilidza (pop. 71,300) located 18 km from the epicenter, and Sokolac (pop. 8,800) 24 km away.
