Nirmal Purja, a renowned mountaineer, has been confirmed dead following an avalanche. The avalanche struck his expedition on Broad Peak in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Thursday. His expedition company, Elite Exped, announced his tragic loss on Saturday. Purja's climbing partners and several other expedition members also perished in the incident. Rescue operations faced significant challenges due to poor weather conditions.
