Police have made an arrest after a Union Saint-Gilloise footballer was the victim of a violent robbery last weekend.Footage posted on social media shows striker Mohammed Fuseini being attacked on the streets of Brussels on Sunday morning.Fuseini was attacked by robbers in a terrifying ordeal on SundayGettyFuseini was dragged out of his car by masked individuals and held in a headlock during the terrifying scenes.Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN) say the 24-year-old had his Rolex, worth between €8,000 and €14,000, stolen in the incident.The attackers then fled the scene, with one of Fuseini’s teammates said to have captured the attack on film.It is said to have taken place close to the exit of Bloody Louis, which is a nightclub in central Brussels.Union SG released a statement on Fuseini’s condition which, via HLN, said: “The images from last Sunday are particularly harrowing.“He subsequently went to the hospital for a check-up and received excellent care there from the Brussels police, whom we sincerely thank for their outstanding work.“The injuries are not serious, and he resumed training yesterday.”“Three people were the victims of a robbery with violence as they made their way to their vehicle in Brussels,” the public prosecutors office said.“According to the initial findings of the investigation, several people allegedly attacked them and took various valuable items, including watches, telephones, and personal belongings.”A 23-year-old suspect has been arrested, with the office adding: “During a search of his home, items reported stolen were recovered.View Tweet: https://t.co/991xTn1RFO“The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office requested an investigating judge and asked for the suspect’s detention. “The suspect was charged with theft with violence committed by a gang and placed under an arrest warrant.”Following their arrest, the suspect is being held in Haren prison and his lawyer did not confirm if the watches were located at his home.“I do not want to say anything more about that, because the judicial investigation is still ongoing,” Samuel Rosenblatt said.“My client is aware of the seriousness of the facts and regrets them,” he added.Fuseini joined Union SG in 2024 from Austrian side SK Sturm Graz.Fuseini is said to have had his watch stolen during the attackGettyHe has scored 14 goals in 71 appearances for the club, with whom he has won the Belgian Pro League and Belgian Cup.The forward has made two Champions League appearances at Union SG against Bayern Munich and Atalanta.Fuseini also faced Scottish giants Rangers during the 2024/25 Europa League league phase.He has made two appearances for Ghana and scored one goal in a 4-0 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago last year.
