Braze at 2.7x Forward Sales: Is the Market Missing the AI Story?Braze, Inc. Class ABATS:BRZEstouflacrucoBraze (BRZE) has fallen from almost $100 after its 2021 IPO to approximately $25 today. That would normally suggest a broken growth story—but the operating results tell a different story. Braze has just delivered: • 30% reported revenue growth • 27% organic revenue growth • Positive free cash flow • Improving customer retention • Faster enterprise adoption • Four consecutive quarters of organic growth acceleration My Master Buy Scanner V2 is now detecting an emerging recovery—but the signal varies by timeframe. TWO TIMEFRAMES, TWO TYPES OF SIGNAL On the three-week timeframe, the scanner shows: • Overall signal: BUY — 2/3 • Action: QUALITY STARTER • Decision: QUALITY BUY • Buy state: QUALITY ACTIVE • Entry quality: 65% • Position size: STARTER — 25% • Lifecycle: QUALITY REBOUND • Recovery: CONFIRMED On the monthly timeframe, the signal is more tactical: • Overall signal: TACTICAL — 3/3 • Action: STARTER ONLY • Entry quality: GOOD — 75% • Position-size model: NORMAL — 50% • Combined technical score: GREEN — 4/10 • Technical cycle: NOT YET ACTIVE Both timeframes reach a similar practical conclusion: The recovery is becoming interesting, but it is still early and does not justify chasing or immediately building a full position. Because Braze only listed in 2021, the scanner also flags SHORT HISTORY. Long-term indicators have less historical data than they would for a mature public company. WHY BRAZE IS INTERESTING Braze provides the infrastructure companies use to coordinate customer communications across: • Push notifications • Email • In-app messaging • Content Cards • SMS and messaging channels • Cross-channel customer journeys • Real-time personalization • AI-driven decisioning and optimization This is not simply another marketing dashboard. Once Braze becomes integrated with a company’s customer data, applications, campaign workflows and experimentation processes, replacing it can be operationally difficult. That creates meaningful switching costs—particularly for large customers running millions of real-time interactions across multiple markets and channels. THE LATEST RESULTS Fiscal Q1 2027 was exceptionally strong: • Revenue: $211 million, up 30.2% • Organic revenue growth: 27% • Subscription revenue: $195.2 million • Remaining performance obligations: $1.08 billion • Dollar-based net retention: 110%, up from 109% • Customers: 2,713, up from 2,342 • Customers generating more than $500,000 of ARR: 349, up from 262 • Non-GAAP operating income: $10.5 million • Free cash flow: $26.8 million The large-customer figure is particularly important. The number of customers exceeding $500,000 in annual recurring revenue increased by approximately 33%, considerably faster than overall customer growth. That suggests Braze is not only adding logos—it is successfully expanding within larger organizations. THE AI OPPORTUNITY Braze is integrating generative and decisioning AI directly into its customer-engagement platform through products including: • BrazeAI Decisioning Studio • BrazeAI Operator • BrazeAI Agent Console • Creative Studio • Automated personalization and optimization The strategic opportunity is significant. Marketing teams increasingly want to move from manually configured campaigns toward automated decision systems that determine: • Which customer should receive a communication • Which channel should be used • When it should be sent • Which content or offer should be selected • Whether communicating at all is the best decision Braze already owns the orchestration layer where those decisions can be activated. If AI increases the number and sophistication of customer interactions, Braze could become more valuable—not less. However, AI also lowers the cost of building marketing tools and strengthens competing platforms. Braze must prove that its data architecture, real-time execution and cross-channel capabilities create a durable advantage. THE PROFITABILITY PROBLEM Despite the strong growth, the scanner identifies several major weaknesses: • Return on capital: -21.33% — RED • Current profit per share: negative • GAAP operating loss: $27.5 million • Cash-flow multiple: 34.53x — RED • Cash yield: 2.31% — RED • Valuation score: 1/4 — RED Braze produced positive non-GAAP operating income, but stock-based compensation was $33.6 million during the quarter—more than three times its $10.5 million of non-GAAP operating income. Weighted-average shares also increased from 104.6 million to 110.8 million year over year. That means shareholders should monitor dilution closely. Positive adjusted earnings are less valuable if a significant portion of employee compensation continues to be paid through newly issued shares. Gross margin also declined: • GAAP gross margin: 65.7%, down from 68.6% • Non-GAAP gross margin: 67.4%, down from 69.3% Braze must demonstrate that rapid growth can eventually translate into expanding margins and sustainable GAAP profitability. IS THE VALUATION REALLY EXPENSIVE? The scanner rates valuation RED because earnings and free cash flow remain limited relative to the share price. However, SaaS investors may reach a more nuanced conclusion. At approximately $25, Braze’s market capitalization is roughly $2.8 billion. After adjusting for around $392 million of cash and securities, the enterprise value is approximately $2.4 billion. Management now expects fiscal 2027 revenue of $895–899 million. That implies an approximate forward enterprise-value-to-sales multiple of 2.7x for a business currently growing organic revenue by 27%. On revenue growth alone, that valuation appears attractive. The question is whether Braze can maintain growth above 20%, protect its gross margin and convert more revenue into genuine per-share cash flow. THE OUTLOOK Management raised fiscal 2027 guidance to: • Revenue: $895–899 million • Non-GAAP operating income: $70–74 million • Non-GAAP EPS: $0.61–0.65 For fiscal Q2, management expects revenue of $219.5–220.5 million. This represents a significant improvement in operating leverage—but GAAP profitability and dilution remain the metrics I would watch most closely. THE TECHNICAL SETUP The share price is attempting to form a base after falling from approximately $61 in early 2024 to below $20 in 2026. Momentum has reached a deeply depressed area and is beginning to turn upward, while the latest monthly candle shows strong buying interest. Key levels I am watching: • $23–25: immediate support and starter zone • $19–21: major structural support • $27–28: first breakout confirmation • $31–33: important resistance • $38–40: stronger long-term recovery signal • Above $48: evidence of a structural trend reversal The scanner’s SOFT momentum readings and inactive technical cycle suggest that the bottom may be forming, but a complete reversal has not yet been confirmed. A monthly close above $28 would strengthen the setup. Reclaiming $32–33 would provide much stronger confirmation. THE BULL CASE • Organic growth has accelerated for four consecutive quarters • Revenue increased 30% • Net retention improved to 110% • Large-customer adoption is accelerating • Remaining performance obligations exceed $1 billion • Free cash flow is positive • Balance sheet contains approximately $392 million of cash and securities • AI could increase the value of Braze’s orchestration platform • Forward revenue valuation appears reasonable for the growth rate • Scanner identifies a confirmed quality rebound THE BEAR CASE • GAAP losses remain substantial • Return on capital is deeply negative • Stock-based compensation remains high • Share dilution is meaningful • Gross margin has declined • Free-cash-flow valuation is not cheap • Competition from Salesforce, Adobe, Iterable, Klaviyo and other platforms remains intense • AI could reduce differentiation between customer-engagement tools • The monthly technical cycle has not yet activated • The stock has not established a clear long-term uptrend MY CURRENT PLAN I would treat Braze as an early quality-rebound opportunity—not as a fully confirmed long-term investment setup. My framework would be: • Consider a 25% starter position while $23–25 holds • Add after a confirmed close above $28 • Increase exposure if price recovers above $32–33 • Reassess the thesis below $20 • Track gross margin, stock-based compensation and dilution each quarter • Increase fundamental conviction if GAAP losses continue narrowing while organic growth remains above 20% TRY THE SCANNER Master Buy Scanner V2 distinguishes between QUALITY BUY, TACTICAL, VALUE BUY and fully confirmed INVEST setups. For Braze, it recognizes strong growth and an emerging quality rebound—but also prevents the improving chart from hiding the company’s weak current profitability and expensive cash-flow valuation. Try it on your own TradingView charts: THE QUESTION What would you do with BRZE around $25? A — Start a small position before full technical confirmation B — Wait for a breakout above $28 C — Wait for GAAP profitability D — Avoid because stock-based compensation and competition remain too high Comment A, B, C or D—and share the next ticker you want me to scan.
