Samara Weaving Has Joined X-Men. Now I Have 4 Ideas For Who Should Be Cast Next

Wait 5 sec.

Now that the X-Men have joined the MCU, I’ve been nerding out like Robert Downey Jr. over the OG X-Men returning for Avengers: Doomsday. However, there's even more reason to fangirl about Marvel's mutants, because Samara Weaving has been cast in Jake Schreier's X-Men movie. So, now that we know the Ready or Not star will play Emma Frost, I've been dreaming about the actors I'd like to see join the cast and the characters they could play. Samara Weaving Has Been Cast As Emma Frost In The New X-Men Movie Sources have shared with Deadline that Samara Weaving is going to play Emma Frost. No other details have been shared yet, and we don't know how big a part she'll play. But we’ve already seen standout performances from the actor. She pitched one of the best scenes in the Ready or Not films. And then stood out in Jorma Taccone’s gore-heavy action comedy Over Your Dead Body. So, I’m confident she'll do great things with the role.Plus, with Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts*, at the helm, this film already has a lot of promise. Now, let's talk about who else I'd like to see join the cast. I Have 4 Ideas For Who Should Join Samara WeavingWhile I’m excited to see Weaving in the role of Frost, there are a few other mutants I'd love to see as more than just a Marvel B plot in this new X-Men movie. So, let's talk about them. (Image credit: Vanessa Clifton/Netflix © 2022)Arden Cho As PsylockeWho better to play a ninja assassin than Arden Cho? Psylocke is a mutant with mind-possessing powers who can subdue/use other mutants’ powers. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what she can do. You can’t tell me that Cho’s time as a kitsune on Teen Wolf hasn’t prepared her for this role. While we saw Olivia Munn portray her in The Last Stand and Apocalypse, I’d love to see Marvel really showcase everything she can do. (Image credit: Photograph by Liane Hentscher/HBO)Isabela Merced As CallistoIsabela Merced already has a superhero under her wings, as she portrayed Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s Superman. But this shouldn’t stop her from being the next Callisto. Honestly, I’d love to have this character back to see her rivalry with Storm. Sadly, Halle Berry isn’t returning for the upcoming Doomsday, but if this new X-Men movie features a brand new cast, it’d be fun to see these characters actually hash it out. (Image credit: Disney/Ser Baffo)Charlie Evans As HavokDespite Havok being Cyclops’ YOUNGER brother, the character appeared in First Class. So, I’d love to see the Summers brothers together, especially with Marsden returning in Doomsday. His return makes this the perfect time to reintroduce his brother too. And I think Evans, who plays Marsden’s son in Paradise, would be a very fun choice for this fresh take on the X-Men. Plus, not only would it make for a cool parallel, but it would kind of keep it "in the family". (Image credit: Jonathan Prime/Prime Video)Nicholas Galitzine As AngelWarren/Angel’s storyline in X-Men: The Last Stand has always felt like the one that got away. His father notably hates mutants and is the one working to get rid of the gene, yet this was merely a B-plot in the film. The character wasn’t given much depth, or even a nod to his darker persona, Archangel from the ‘80s. So, let's bring him back, and let's have Nicholas Galitzine play him. Between playing He-Man in Masters of the Universe and his role in the rom-com Red, White, and Royal Blue, I know he has the range to play either incarnation of Angel. Plus, we all know he can pull off being blonde. I’m confident the X-Men’s future in the MCU would be in good hands with these choices. But whoever they actually decide to cast, I’m sure they'll be the right fit. Clearly, the casting directors are onto something special by picking Samara Weaving, so I can't wait to see what they do next.
