Avantor: Revival Is Working?Avantor, Inc.BATS:AVTRstouflacrucoAvantor (AVTR) has fallen from approximately $44 to below $8 as weak life-science demand, declining margins and heavy debt destroyed investor confidence. The latest two-week candle shows a powerful rebound to approximately $13.80—but my Master Buy Scanner V2 is not calling this a confirmed buy. The monthly view gives AVTR a 3/3 score, yet the final decision remains GROWTH WATCH. The two-week view is even more cautious at 2/3. That distinction matters: the business may be stabilizing, but the stock has already moved sharply before confirmation. THE SIGNAL The monthly scanner currently shows: • Score: 3/3 • Decision: GROWTH WATCH • Action: WATCH • Entry quality: OK — 60% • Buy state: NO EVENT • Setup maturity: CHASE • Position size: NONE — 0% • Technical cycle: ACTIVE Meanwhile, the two-week view shows: • Score: 2/3 • Decision: WATCH • Entry quality: 45% • Bands synchronized: NO The signal is improving—but it is not fully aligned across timeframes. WHY THE STOCK REBOUNDED Avantor’s second-quarter results finally provided evidence that its Revival turnaround program is gaining traction. The company reported: • Revenue: $1.69 billion, up 0.5% • Organic revenue: down only 0.4% • Adjusted EBITDA: $254.3 million • Adjusted EPS: $0.21 • Free cash flow: $142.8 million • Debt repaid during the quarter: $112.1 million Management also raised its 2026 organic-growth outlook from a decline of 0.5%–2.5% to a range of -0.5% to +0.5%. Adjusted EPS guidance increased to $0.80–0.83. (https://ir.avantorsciences.com/investors/news-and-events/news/news-details/2026/Avantor-Reports-Second-Quarter-2026-Results/default.aspx) Most encouragingly, VWR Distribution & Services returned to positive organic growth of 1.7%—earlier than management expected. But the recovery remains uneven. Bioscience & Medtech Products declined 5.6% organically, while net income fell to $38.1 million from $64.7 million one year earlier. This is stabilization—not yet strong growth. THE FUNDAMENTAL PICTURE The scanner classifies business quality as ORANGE: • Quality score: 1.5/3 • Return on capital: -5.59% • Margin trend: -1.79% • Cash generation: 7.55% • Three-year sales growth: -4.46% Avantor generated $496 million of free cash flow in 2025, but it also recorded a $530 million net loss as revenue declined organically by 2.8%. The Revival program is focused on relaunching VWR, improving manufacturing and supply chains, strengthening commercial execution and upgrading e-commerce. (https://ir.avantorsciences.com/investors/news-and-events/news/news-details/2026/Avantor-Reports-Fourth-Quarter-and-Full-Year-2025-Results/default.aspx) The investment case therefore depends on management converting these initiatives into sustained organic growth and better margins. VALUATION AND DEBT The scanner’s valuation score is only 3/6: • Cash yield: 4.87% • Business-price multiple: 10.55x • Cash-flow multiple: 20.39x • Debt-to-equity: 0.66 • Reported profit per share: negative At approximately $13.80, AVTR trades around 17 times the midpoint of management’s adjusted 2026 EPS guidance. That is not obviously expensive, but it is also not a distressed valuation if growth remains near zero. Debt remains the larger concern. Avantor ended Q2 with $3.72 billion of gross debt, $306.8 million of cash and adjusted net leverage of 3.3x. Continued free-cash-flow generation and debt reduction are essential to the thesis. (https://ir.avantorsciences.com/investors/news-and-events/news/news-details/2026/Avantor-Reports-Second-Quarter-2026-Results/default.aspx) THE TECHNICAL SETUP The chart suggests that AVTR may have established a major low near $8, but the latest rebound has been extremely fast. Key levels I am watching: • $12–13: first pullback and support area • $10–11: stronger accumulation zone • Around $8: structural low and thesis risk level • $14.50–15: immediate resistance • $17–18: next recovery target • $20–22: major long-term resistance The monthly scanner labels the current setup CHASE. After a two-week move of more than 24%, I would prefer a controlled pullback or a confirmed close above $15 rather than entering immediately. THE BULL CASE • VWR has returned to positive organic growth • Full-year guidance was increased • Free cash flow remains healthy • Management is actively reducing debt • The Revival program is showing early progress • Technical recovery has been confirmed • The stock remains far below its historical peak THE BEAR CASE • Total organic revenue is still declining • Bioscience & Medtech Products remains weak • Net income and margins are below prior-year levels • Return on capital is negative • Debt and leverage remain substantial • The valuation assumes the recovery continues • No confirmed BUY event has fired • The latest rebound may have moved too far too quickly MY CURRENT PLAN I would treat AVTR as a recovery watch—not a completed turnaround. My framework would be: • Avoid chasing the initial surge • Watch whether $12–13 becomes support • Consider a small starter only after consolidation • Add after a convincing close above $15 • Increase conviction if organic growth turns positive and margins stabilize • Reassess the thesis below $10, with $8 as the major structural risk level TRY THE SCANNER Master Buy Scanner V2 distinguishes between confirmed BUY signals, GROWTH WATCH setups and tactical rebounds. Add it to your TradingView charts here: THE QUESTION At approximately $14, what matters most? A — Improving guidance and the VWR recovery B — Wait for a pullback or confirmation above $15 C — Avoid because debt and weak profitability remain too risky Comment A, B or C—and share your Avantor thesis.
