Overwatch’s new update brings sweeping Tank changes to test further 6-vs-6 improvements

Wait 5 sec.

What’s old is new once again. Overwatch’s new update today is tweaking how Tanks feel as part of further six-vs-six experiments in Quick Play Hacked, which will be active within Open Queue throughout the weekend. Image via Blizzard Entertainment One major change in today’s patch is a reduction to in-combat healing, dropping from 30 percent to 15 percent for all heroes, to account for two extra players being on the battlefield at any given time. And for Tanks, the changes are to several heroes’ abilities. Blizzard says it is “reducing several Tank defensive cooldowns to improve gameplay flow for these heroes, and “to offset the increased availability of these abilities, their durations have been shortened where appropriate to avoid creating too many defensive cooldowns with two tanks available.” At this point, it feels like the game is considering a full return to six-vs-six, but having both options available now is the best of both worlds.
