Qatar Racing's Conflict (Golden Pal), an eye-catching, come-from-behind debut winner for trainer Brad Cox over the Saratoga lawn July 24, could make her next start in either the $200,000 P. G. Johnson S. at Saratoga Sept. 4 or the $750,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies S. Sept. 7.“I had a little discussion with Brad (Cox) and certainly the P. G. Johnson or the Fillies Mile at Kentucky Downs, it will be one of the two,” confirmed Hunter Valley Farm's Fergus Galvin, who serves as an U.S. advisor to Qatar Racing's Sheikh Fahad. “We'll leave it in Brad's hands and see how she's doing in the next month. She's exciting.”Exciting, indeed.Off at 4-1 going 1 1/16 miles in her unveiling over the inner turf course, Conflict raced second to last in seventh and saved ground through fractions of :24.04 and :48.08 over the firm going. Given her cue by Irad Ortiz, Jr. on the far turn approaching the quarter pole, Conflict hit the gas with a flashy, sweeping move.Hung out at least five wide at the top of the stretch, Conflict switched over to her right lead as they straightened and came rumbling home with massive strides in a field-best :29.88 to win by a length. I know Irad said going down the back she didn't really know what was going on until he got riding her and she really picked things up around the turn.”Hailing from the first crop of two-time Breeders' Cup winner Golden Pal, Conflict went through the ring twice, bringing $92,000 as a Keeneland November weanling and $300,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling.
