LRS concession extended - The HinduPublished - July 31, 2026 09:31 pm IST - HYDERABADThe Telangana government has extended by four months the 25% concession on fees and other charges payable under the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS), offering relief to applicants seeking to regularise plots in unauthorised layouts. The concession, which was scheduled to end on August 1, will now remain in force until November 30, 2026.The extension was notified through G.O. Ms. No. 213 issued on Friday by Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan. Under the revised order, applicants paying LRS fees between August 1 and November 30 will be eligible for the 25% rebate.The government had earlier announced the concession up to March 31, and subsequently extended it from May 1 to July 31. However, scrutiny of LRS applications slowed as planning officials and staff were engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The government also noted that fee collections had fallen short of expectations and that there were complaints over delays in issuing proceedings even to applicants who had paid the prescribed charges. Against this backdrop, the concession has been extended for another four months.The rebate will be available to applicants under the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations, all Urban Development Authorities, municipalities and Panchayat Raj institutions across the State.The government had initially estimated that the LRS would generate ₹10,000 crore in revenue. However, despite three extensions of the concession period, collections have so far been reported at around ₹2,000 crore.
