Police constable recruitment exam: Karnataka govt. assures transparency, no ban on religious attire - The HinduPublished - August 01, 2026 08:43 pm IST - BengaluruPriyank Kharge. | Photo Credit: File photoThe Karnataka government has assured that all necessary measures have been taken to conduct the upcoming police constable recruitment examination in a transparent, fair, and smooth manner, Home Minister Priyank Kharge said on Saturday.Addressing a press conference, the Minister stated that the government is committed to ensuring a free and fair recruitment process without any irregularities or confusion, keeping the interests and futures of candidates in mind.He said that detailed instructions regarding the dress code, as well as permitted and prohibited items, have already been mentioned on the candidates’ hall tickets. Applicants have been urged to strictly follow these guidelines to facilitate the examination process.Clarifying reports circulating on social media, Mr. Kharge said the government had not imposed any ban on religious attire.Candidates wearing religious clothing or ornaments will be allowed to appear for the examination. However, such candidates must report to their examination centres two hours and 30 minutes before the commencement of the examination to complete the mandatory security screening.The Minister also reminded candidates that prohibited items, including mobile phones, smartwatches, electronic gadgets, calculators, pen drives, books, and bags, would not be allowed inside the examination hall.
