Keith Schembri accused police officers of giving false testimony under oath as he challenged their account of his arrest and the search of his Mellieħa home.During cross-examination by Yorgen Fenech’s defence lawyer Giannella de Marco. Schembri denied that he had identified which electronic devices officers should seize during the search.Referring to testimony given by scene-of-crime officers earlier in the proceedings, he insisted nobody asked him what should be taken and rejected claims that he pointed out specific devices.“Bring them here now, let them look me in the eye, and have them repeat what they said. It’s not true,” Schembri told the court, adding that police officers were “lying” about him.The exchange followed testimony from police officers on 27th July, who said they were instructed to seize only the electronic devices Schembri identified, rather than carry out a conventional search.Assistant Commissioner Keith Arnaud had also testified that he searched the property with fellow investigator Kurt Zahra before the scene-of-crime team returned later that day.Schembri also disputed the police version of the timeline surrounding his arrest. While Arnaud previously testified that Schembri was arrested at around 5.30am, Schembri insisted this was incorrect, saying his daughter had already left for school before police arrived.He maintained he was still in bed when officers knocked, with his wife answering the door before he came downstairs.•
