Glorious Goodwood Festival day 2 tips (July 29, 2026)

Wait 5 sec.

Glorious Goodwood Day 2 and the Group races come thick and fast now! I can’t wait to see Bow Echo out again and it should be a fascinating rematch with Gstaad in the Sussex Stakes. Opera Ballo also takes his chance so expect fireworks there.Flora Of Bermuda is likely to be popular in the Oak Tree Stakes and the Molecomb looks wide open with plenty of value on offer. It should be a titanic battle between punters and the bookies and hopefully I can guide you in the right direction.Quick Glorious Goodwood day 2 tips (Wednesday, July 29)1.50 Hatteen – 5/2 with Coral2.25 Wild Blossom – 7/4 with BoyleSports NEXT BEST3.00 Flora Of Bermuda – 7/2 with SBK3.35 Crownbreaker – 5/1 each way with Sky Bet4.10 Bow Echo – 5/4 with Spreadex NAP5.00 French Affair – 11/1 each way with Betfred5.40 Defence Minister – 29/1 each way with SBKJoe’s win double: WILD BLOSSOM and BOW ECHO at 5/1 with bet365Joe’s best horse racing betting tips for Glorious Goodwood Festival day 2Find my top tips for Wednesday 29th July 2026 racing with odds from the best horse racing bookies below:Goodwood 1.50 Coral Rewards Shaker Handicap (GBBPlus Race) (Class 2) (3YO only) 1m4fNot often you see Al Shaqab with two horses in the same race and they have the two at the top of the market here.HATTEEN arrives in better form having won impressively at Doncaster last time. He looked to relish the step up to a mile and a half on that occasion so with more to come I can see him following up here under Oisin Murphy.Cannes has only had four starts and did impress winning at Leopardstown before finishing down the field at Royal Ascot. This is easier though and he should have a good chance to bounce back. Infraad should not be ruled out either as I can see him improving again at some point. Bet on HATTEEN to win at 5/2 with Coral Goodwood 2.25 British Stallion Studs EBF Alice Keppel Fillies’ Conditions Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 2) (2YO only) 5fThe way WILD BLOSSOM won on debut at Carlisle was mightily impressive.I know she failed to deliver somewhat in the Queen Mary but I think they made too much use of her and she paid the price as a result. Remember she is learning all the time and she still has potential to do better again so I’m keen to keep her on side here. She could win this before having a crack at the Lowther at York next month. At an each way price Zigazig Ah did really well to win the Super Sprint and has won two from three now so you’d be foolish to rule out another big run.Fast Track bolted up at Beverley and while she has ground to make up with the favourite on that Royal Ascot run she could still acquit herself well here. Bet on WILD BLOSSOM to win at 7/4 with BoyleSports Goodwood 3.00 Rolls-Royce Oak Tree Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Group 3) (Class 1) (3YO plus) 7fI have always been a fan of FLORA OF BERMUDA and I thought she did it impressively at York last time. I know the second First Instinct closed quickly at the finish but she was already home and hosed. If she gets cover early she has every chance of seeing out the 7f here and it is no surprise to see her figuring prominently in the betting.Sayidah Dariyan was two lengths behind the selection at Newmarket on reappearance and was only beaten three lengths at Royal Ascot behind Almeraq so looks the danger.Zanthos is back over her optimum trip so could run well and Planet Seeker impressed at Newmarket and is another one who must enter the reckoning. Bet on FLORA OF BERMUDA to Win at 7/2 with SBK Goodwood 3.35 Veuve Clicquot Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (2YO only) 5fThere are plenty in with a chance of Group glory here but CROWNBREAKER catches my eye and could take a lot of beating. She won readily in France last time and that form looks decent enough. Her first three starts were promising too finishing fifth in the Queen Mary and with more to come I can’t see how she doesn’t go close under David Egan.Pershaada sprung a surprise winning at this track on penultimate start and then ran a blinder to finish fourth behind Victorious in the Queen Mary. She is progressive and will be bang in the mix again.Ruler’s Pride has only had two starts and given how impressive he was on debut he may well bounce back from that blip last time. Bet on CROWNBREAKER each way at 5/1 with Sky Bet Goodwood 4.10 Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes (Group 1) (Class 1) (3YO plus) 1mI’ve been watching horse racing for well over 25 years now and the Sussex Stakes is always a race I remember growing up. It always seems to attract the big names and that is very much the case again here with unbeaten colt BOW ECHO looking to make it a perfect 6-6 for George Boughey and Billy Loughnane. If you follow me regularly you’ll know my love for this horse given we backed it at 25/1 to win the Guineas. Pretty much everything that could go wrong did at the start in the St James’s Palace Stakes and he still found a way. He oozes class and I think he’ll confirm form over Gstaad and cement himself as the best 3yo miler around.Gstaad has come closest to beating the selection and another big run looks assured here. I don’t think people realise how good a horse he is himself so for Bow Echo to keep beating him tells you of the quality he possesses.Opera Ballo did well to hang in there after setting the pace in the Queen Anne and is another one in with a chance but he doesn’t have the class of the top two and I think they’ll fight it out in the closing stages. Bet on BOW ECHO To Win at 5/4 with Spreadex Goodwood 5.00 Coral Charlton Handicap (Class 4) (3YO plus) 6fArguably the trickiest race on the day but FRENCH AFFAIR definitely has decent claims here on debut for his new yard.He ran some eye-catching races in defeat when trained by Richard Hannon and now with Pompey Ventures could be set to go close. He could easily have a bit in hand off this mark and if it pans out favourably I want to keep him on side at a double-figure price.Supreme King has recent form figures of 1222 and is entitled to be bang there again but he does top the market and in a race like this you need to be looking for some value. Velvet Rhythm was denied the hat-trick at Newbury but is likeable and from this yard could keep progressing.Cashbox is another one with solid each way claims but don’t let anyone put you off one if you’re keen on something at a price as plenty could spring a surprise here. Bet on FRENCH AFFAIR each way at 11/1 with Betfred Goodwood 5.40 HKJC World Pool Handicap (Class 3) 7fTime for the lucky last and this race has a really nice each way appeal to it. So much so that I’ve chanced DEFENCE MINISTER at a monster 25/1!This son of Too Darn Hot made a winning return at Kempton back in March and then has finished down the field in two competitive handicaps at Ascot since. He was fourth at this meeting 12 months ago and is still fairly unexposed looking at his overall profile.I think he is capable off this mark and with Jamie Spencer riding for the first time I can see him surprising a few.Bobby Bennu tops the market and deservedly so given that recent run at Newcastle. Oliver Show was an eye-catcher when fourth at this track when last seen and freshened up could improve on that and get involved too so I might have a saver on him depending on the price nearer the off. Bet on DEFENCE MINISTER each way at 29/1 with SBK My top tip for day 2 of Glorious GoodwoodWHAT A DAY AHEAD! I’m confident WILD BLOSSOM can get back on track for Wathnan and I’m backing BOW ECHO to remain unbeaten in the Sussex! The double looks great value at around 5/1 at the time of writing.
