Since the moment Dutton Ranch was announced, I’ve been thinking about Yellowstone characters who could show up in it. Now, ever since Season 1 ended on the 2026 TV schedule, I’ve been getting antsy thinking about how I actually need Kayce to appear, and how I think it’d be wonderful if the bunkhouse boys returned. Now, Ian Bohen, who played Ryan in the OG show, has added some fuel to this fire, as he commented on the potential to appear on Rip and Beth’s spinoff. In Season 1 of Dutton Ranch, we got Kelly Reilly’s Beth, Cole Hauser’s Rip and Finn Little’s Carter, but they were the only Yellowstone cast members to appear. It makes sense; they’re starting a new life in Texas, and Kayce has his own show and is in Montana. However, it’s hard not to think about how other characters we know could come into play. Ryan, who was a trusted bunkhouse boy for all five seasons of the original series, is someone I’d love to see again, so I was thrilled to hear Ian Bohen tell Us Weekly: It would be interesting to see where Abby and Ryan are within the world. So, you know, they got one season under their belt, and they're figuring out their future, their arc for the next several seasons. And maybe there'll be a spot for those two people to show up and contribute. That'd be great. To recap, at the end of Yellowstone, Ryan left the ranch to pursue a relationship with his love interest, Abby, who is played by country musician Lainey Wilson. Based on Bohen’s recent comments, it seems like he might think they’re still together, and if he were to show up in Dutton Ranch, she might be by his side. Listen, I’d be all for this, and I think it could be done easily. The branded cowboys are so loyal to the Duttons, and I would think that if Rip and Beth called them, they’d drop what they were doing to go to Texas. Ryan was particularly loyal, and so I think he’d definitely go lend a hand in a heartbeat if called upon. (Image credit: Paramount)Now, will that ever happen? I don’t know. We do know that Reilly, Hauser and Luke Grimes are all for a Marshals and Dutton Ranch crossover. We also know the Beth actress would love to see Teeter (Jen Landon) on her new show. So, they’re open to the idea of bringing back characters we already know and love. Therefore, I don’t think Ryan returning is out of the question. However, as of right now, nothing is confirmed on this front. We know Dutton Ranch will be back for Season 2, and it’s clear the cast of Season 1 will be back. What is unclear is if more actors will join them. I’m hopeful it could happen, and I’d love to see Bohen specifically in the mix, especially since we know he’s down. However, for now, you can see him play Ryan in Yellowstone, and you can stream Season 1 of Dutton Ranch as well as Bohen’s latest project in the Taylor Sheridan universe, Season 3 of Lioness, with a Paramount+ subscription.
