Manager ended my job. How can I possibly be hired again?

Wait 5 sec.

I am in a really bad place and never thought I would be in this position, but I could really use some advice. I worked at my job nearly a year and came from a well supported facility to a bare bones community hospital where I didn’t know half the skills I needed to know when I was hired, so my orientation was extended and eventually I was cruising along, but when I switched my shift, I was put on another probationary period, as per hospital policy, where it was very easy to end me. My manager said I needed to show I can be completely independent on call without another RN, so I quickly picked up several on call shifts and told all my preceptors to not even be in the room and after each shift, they all said I was great and didn’t need them. Despite this, at the end of my probationary period the manager promptly ended me and said it was “everything” including past mistakes that I immediately learned from, but she was unwilling to see past that. My problem is , how do I get another job? My manager even told me to lie (because I can’t leave this job off my resume) about why I “left” and said HR can’t legally say I was kicked out but they’ll just say I left. Despite this, new employers are asking me why I selected “No” regarding contacting my last employer and one potential manager even pushed past my boundary and said she’ll call them anyway to see how I did. Other applications are also asking for references and despite all other people at the job liking me and seeing my competence, they’re suddenly ghosting me when I’m asking if I can put them as a reference today … maybe cause it’s Saturday night but I got no responses. It’ll look suspicious if I only get references from my first job and not my second job that kicked me out. How would you guys handle it? I feel like my career is over and this is literally life and death because I’m supporting other people and have no other skills and despite what happened, my specialty is still my passion and I truly feel I didn’t deserve that … everyone else said I was getting better and saw I was good enough. I would really appreciate some advice - thanks so much !! submitted by /u/Throwaway12272712 [link] [comments]
