Thank you. I thought about it some, and I think people took my “so you don’t read any books?” comment as me implying they were dumb…which was not my intention. I think it needed the extra context I added in the edit. Ah yeah, that makes sense. "Don't you read books" is sort of the cliche "are you dumb?". I didn't catch that either. I just read it like I think you meant it: Literally about typesetting and how that applies to books. It’s like the equivalent of saying digital artists aren’t real artists because the computer does it for them. When in reality the artist is painting with a stylus and still doing everything, it’s just a different medium. I think some older people get “digital” confused with “ai”. Yeah that's the dividing line that makes AI very different to me. Yes, Photoshop, Illustrator, et al automate a lot of processes and allow a person to get more done faster. But they are still directed entirely by the operator. The operator's experience and discernment are 100% requirements for quality output. Gen AI makes all objective and subjective decisions inherently. Gen AI actually does the work instead of the operator. Things made by AI aren't things made by humans.
