Renee Good was a 37-year-old woman who was fatally shot in her car by the immigration agent, Jonathan Ross, in Minneapolis. The Department of Homeland Security claimed that Good was involved in an “act of domestic terrorism,” and that the shooting occurred in self-defense, according to The Guardian. Her family, who voted for Trump and thought ICE would protect Americans, filed two lawsuits. In a press release presented by their lawyers, it was mentioned that ‘Renee’s death was not an accident. It was the predictable result of a coordinated campaign by senior officials in this administration to target Minnesotans of Somali or Hispanic origin and silence anyone who dared to raise their voice in protest.’ The lawsuit has become one of the major civil litigations filed against the Trump government. We can and must do better, and the Constitution must be the roadmap back to decency and the rule of law,” said Plaintiff Brent Ganger, Renee Good’s brother while holding the government accountable for the incident. The family wants to be compensated Becca Good, Renee’s partner, is also suing the government for emotional and physical damages she had to endure. She stood a few feet away from the vehicle as Good was fatally shot by the agent.
