I dated a guy who's ex wife would send their kids to his house for visitation weekends with basically empty backpacks (maybe one t-shirt or a single pair of socks) and then claim they forgot to pack stuff, so the dad had to buy everything when they visited. I told him he was a good dad, but stupid for sending the stuff he bought back home with them. He didn't get it. I took them all to Walmart, let them pick out a few outfits, bought them all toothbrushes, a few toys, animal pillows, etc. I also got three Rubbermaid totes, and a bunch of stickers for them to decorate the totes, then painted their names on the sides. I told them all the stuff we bought would stay in the totes at Dad's house when they went back to Mom's, and it would be waiting for them when they came back. They thought that was fun, and gladly put their stuff in the totes before they left with their empty backpacks on Sunday evening. I was still there when the ex called and cussed at him for sending them home with empty backpacks. It finally dawned on him that she was only doing that to get him to buy them new stuff twice a month. He was sweet, but stupid.
