Kavin Selvaganesh, who were protesting in front their house for the past three days condemning the quashing of the final report against the parents of prime accused S. Surjith in the murder case.Addressing the media, he said Surjith’s father and mother, who were involved in Kavin’s murder are police officers. “Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi had continuously been on the protest front demanding that they be arrested. His mother Krishnakumari was not arrested. We continued to raise the demand, and it was only after this government came to power that she was arrested.Mr. Arasu said, “Unlike other cases, the government is paying additional attention to this case. The government is firm that those involved in murder should be punished.”He noted that it was a great shock that they (Surjith’s parents) had been discharged from the chargesheet. Pointing out that Law Minister C. T. R. Nirmal Kumar had said that an appeal would be filed on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, he said, “We will continue the legal battle. We will stand by the affected people until they get justice.”He added, “Kavin’s parents have also demanded that senior advocate P.P. Mohan was appointed as the government advocate in the case. They have also informed the Law Minister about this. That will also be implemented.”Kavin’s mother Tamilselvi said that she considers the Social Justice Minister as her brother. “Since he [Mr. Arasu] gave us an assurance, we have accepted his request and are calling off the protest.”Published - October 03, 2026 07:38 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
