Spurs Web has taken a trip down memory lane, revisiting a unique moment in Tottenham’s history when Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, and Harry Kane briefly shared the pitch together.Tottenham Hotspur have had many great players don the Lilywhite shirt throughout their history, including Bill Nicholson, Ledley King, Keith Burkinshaw, and Steve Perryman. In fact, many of the aforementioned players have already been inducted into Tottenham’s Hall of Fame – 49 greats in total – though others, particularly some of the club’s more recent stars, are still awaiting such recognition. In the last decade, Tottenham have seen many more world-class players pass through north London, including Heung-min Son, Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Moussa Dembele and many others. However, not all of these players featured for Spurs at the same time, with their eras not always overlapping. Spurs Web has now taken a trip down memory lane to highlight the one occasion when three of the club’s most iconic names shared the pitch.Photo by Julian Finney/Getty ImagesTottenham’s Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric played together for just 10 minutesHarry Kane, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric were three top players who featured in the same era for Tottenham during the 2010s.Interestingly, though, the trio never actually spent more than 10 minutes on the pitch together during their time at Spurs and we have now gone through the history books to see exactly when this happened. This came back in the Europa League during the 2011/12 season. Harry Redknapp was balancing a top-four Premier League charge with a demanding Europa League schedule. He heavily rotated his side, starting 18-year-old Kane up front alongside Jermain Defoe, while Modric anchored the midfield. Bale, though, while in the squad, was kept on the bench to be rested. However, the plan unravelled quickly. Spurs’ rotated defence conceded two shock goals to PAOK within the first 14 minutes. A back five of Gomes, Corluka, Gallas, Bassong, and Rose did little to prevent the Greek side from going a goal up after five minutes. And even though Modric pulled one back from the penalty spot after Stafylidis handled a Kane header before half‑time, Spurs still went into the break trailing 2–1 and found themselves struggling to break down 10‑man PAOK following a red card.In a desperate push for the equaliser, Redknapp brought Bale on in the 63rd minute. For the next 10 minutes, Kane, Modric and Bale shared the pitch. But after realising the attack needed a different dynamic, Redknapp subbed Kane off in the 71st minute for young Spanish winger Iago Falque. The trio’s shared history ended there, while Tottenham lost 2-1 on the night.Modric’s exit ensured unique moment in Spurs historyBy the following summer, Modric transferred to Real Madrid, ensuring that this chaotic 10-minute cameo remained a unique anomaly in football history.Bale then moved to Madrid in 2013 after winning the PFA Player of the Year award, following Modric to Spain exactly one year later.Bale and Kane officially reunited on 19 September 2020, when Tottenham announced Bale’s return on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.Their on-field reunion came a month later, on 18 October 2020, during a Premier League match against West Ham United. Kane started the game, and Bale came off the bench in the 72nd minute to share the pitch with Kane for the first time since their brief overlap nine years earlier.Unlike their fleeting cameo in 2011, this reunion saw them form a highly productive partnership under Jose Mourinho. During the 2020/21 season, they played 25 matches together, combining for four goals – including a standout match against Crystal Palace where Kane assisted both of Bale’s goals in a 4–1 win.READ MORE: Tottenham star Archie Gray earns a career-first on duty with England U21s this weekThe post Tottenham’s forgotten 10 minutes: When Kane, Bale and Modric all played together appeared first on Spurs Web.
