Is it normal to get assigned mandatory overtime later on if you call in on a weekend?

Wait 5 sec.

This seems to be a policy on just my unit, not a hospital-wide policy. If we get sick and call in on a weekend day, we're required to work an extra shift later on, even if we use PTO to cover the absence. We're given a few days to pick from. I'm currently heading into an extra day of overtime because I had a migraine last month. I am fucking tired and not vibing at all. Is this normal? Legal (we're in NYS)? Am I being a huge whiny baby? submitted by /u/Quinjet [link] [comments]
