Man City could be forced into player sales if punishments for their Premier League rule breaches are decided, but who would be Tottenham’s three dream pick-ups?Man City’s future remains uncertain after the Premier League confirmed on Tuesday, 29th September that an independent Commission had found the club guilty of all charges relating to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period spanning from 2009 to 2018.The football world is now waiting to discover what punishment will be handed to the Manchester club. The sanctions could range from a telling off or hefty fine to a transfer ban, while the most extreme possibilities include expulsion from the Premier League or the stripping of titles. If Manchester City are hit with a punishment that has a major financial impact on the club, player sales could well become a necessity. That could potentially put some of their biggest names on the market, giving clubs around Europe an opportunity to make moves they otherwise would not have been able to.For Tottenham, there are three Man City players in particular who would be absolute game-changers. For a bit of fun, we have selected our dream trio, if money was no object.Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty ImagesErling Haaland would fill Tottenham’s biggest voidTottenham’s struggles in front of goal this season have been well documented. They have scored only two goals in their first five Premier League games, both of which came in their most recent defeat to Aston Villa.Erling Haaland, meanwhile, has scored 117 goals in 137 Premier League appearances since making his debut in the 2022/23 season. He has won the Premier League Golden Boot in three of his four seasons at the Etihad and would, without doubt, be the right profile to lead Tottenham’s front three. It is also worth remembering just how little City paid to bring him to England. They landed the Norwegian from Borussia Dortmund for just £51m in the summer of 2022 after triggering his release clause. Dortmund had previously set his asking price at €175m (£149m) and had even rejected big-money proposals from clubs including Chelsea.Tottenham have broken their long tradition of conservative spending this summer, notably spending £100m on Sandro Tonali. But Haaland – one of the finest players in the game right now would surely be worth an enormous fee, and it is difficult to even put a genuine price tag on a player of his level. There is another obvious problem, though. The striker is currently the highest-paid player in the Premier League, with his gross base earnings reportedly standing at a staggering £525,000 per week. (Capology)There are only very few clubs in Europe who have the financial strength and willingness to offer anything close to that, and Tottenham, unfortunately, do not make the list. However, a man can dream.Rayan Cherki would give Spurs a creative sparkRayan Cherki is currently one of the most entertaining players to watch in the Premier League, and his style would fit naturally into Tottenham’s traditional identity of attacking football and creating a team that is a joy to watch.Manchester City managed to sign Cherki for a deal worth only £34m, and the Frenchman has since proven to be one of the biggest bargains in recent football history, recording 36 goal contributions since last season.Tottenham have struggled for depth in the No.10 position for some time, particularly amid the injuries to James Maddison and Xavi Simons, both of whom have recently suffered or are currently dealing with ACL injuries. There is still no certainty over when either player will return to their best levels.Among the Premier League’s big six, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have decent depth in that position after spending big on established names in recent years. Manchester United, meanwhile, will certainly not want Cherki after his publicly expressed hatred towards the club. That potentially leaves Tottenham, although interest from outside the Premier League could make any move much harder to complete.Tottenham wanted Antoine Semenyo six months agoTottenham have long admired Antoine Semenyo, with both Ange Postecoglou and Thomas Frank publicly confirming their desire to sign the former Bournemouth man during their respective tenures at the club before he eventually secured a £64m move to Manchester City in January last year. The Ghanaian international has since made 34 appearances for City, recording an impressive tally of 13 goals and six assists.Spurs are currently without an established quality left-footed winger, given Mathys Tel’s inconsistency in that position. Semenyo would therefore be a very good fit and, of the three players on this list, perhaps the most realistic option for Tottenham to pursue.Mohammed Kudus could probably put in a good word about Tottenham.READ MORE: Tottenham provide update on statue project, but a club museum is too ‘expensive’ – Spurs WebThe post Three Man City players Tottenham should target if they are punished, including Erling Haaland appeared first on Spurs Web.
