He ran second in the G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin in August and came home third in the G1 Grosser Preis von Baden. The latter race was used as a warmup by Torquator Tasso prior to his Arc victory in 2021. Bred by Alexander Rom, Bright Light was campaigned by Stall Melfi and Suborics.Fresh off a strong second-place finish in the G2 Prix Chaudenay for owner/breeder Flaxman Stables and Andre and Lavinia Fabre on Saturday, Space Waltz became the day's second and final seven-figure sale. Also bought by leading buyer Ace Stud for €1.15 million, the son of American Pharoah won the G3 Prix du Lys in June. He was also second in the G3 Prix Gerald de Geoffre in September. Out of G3 Prix Cleopatre heroine Harajuku (Deep Impact), Space Waltz counts rising sire star Ghaiyyath in his extended family and holds an entry into the G1 Prix Royal-Oak later in October. Space Waltz is currently rated 108.One of four lots to bring €700,000 or more on the evening, Proof (Dubawi) caught the eye of Manresa Agency for €720,000. A winner of the Listed Prix Pelleas at Compiegne this summer, the three-year-old Wertheimer et Frere homebred signed off with a third in the G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano. Last year, the 111-rated Christopher Head trainee was third in both the G3 Prix de Conde followed by the G1 Criterium de Saint Cloud. The half-brother to a trio of stakes winners, led by G3 Prix d'Aumale winner and G1 Prix Saint-Alary third Soustraction (Lope De Vega), will begin his stallion career in France.Said Thomas Leffray after signing the ticket, “I've bought him for Haras de Cercy. He will be syndicated.”The OH Consignment's Salitos (In Swoop) was one of the evening's most popular lots, and he hammered to Joseph O'Brien for €700,000 on Saturday evening. Trained by Peter Schiergen, the Klaus Scholer-bred colt ran third in the G2 Derby Italiano, before filling that same position in the G1 Deutsches Derby at Hamburg in July.Out of an Acclamation half-sister to G2 Premio Guido Berardelli winner Strawberry Fields (Tenby) and German listed winner and Preis der Deutschen third Sachsenking (High Estate), the 108-rated Salitos holds entries in the G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris later this month, and in the G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern at Munich in November. Liberty Racing purchased Salitos for €36,000 as a BBAG September Yearling.“Everything is still to be decided in terms of plans, but he is obviously a colt with a lot of class and we are looking forward to following the next stage of his career,” said O'Brien.“I bought him for a long-standing client. Of the 40 lots offered, 29 sold (72%) for a new record gross of €11,732,000 (+88%).
