I finished my foundation program, and I’m currently on a pathway to progress into a Bachelor of Nursing. I’ve been retaken IELTS two times already, but I keep getting around a 6, while the requirement for nursing in Australia is a minimum of 7. I didn’t get to prepare as much as I should have, and honestly, that’s really my fault because I didn’t manage my time well or take enough responsibility for preparing early. I ended up trying to prepare at the last minute, doing a bunch of mock tests, and got humbled pretty badly by the actual test. I know a 7 might be easy for some people to attain, but I’m finding it really difficult to reach that level consistently. Now I’m starting to overthink things. As much as I know that becoming a good writer takes a lot of practice and time, I’m wondering if studying nursing would require me to write a lot. I really dislike writing essays, and I’m starting to feel a little intimidated by the amount of writing I might have to do throughout a nursing degree. I guess I’m wondering whether my struggles with English writing and essays now are something I should be seriously concerned about if I decide to continue with nursing.
