Spurs Web has examined the raw output of Will Lankshear and Troy Parrott, comparing it with Tottenham duo Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush to assess whether the hype surrounding them holds any substance.Roberto De Zerbi’s side is yet to click this season as the Italian takes charge of Tottenham Hotspur for the first time at the start of a campaign.Last season the focus was mainly on survival, and De Zerbi delivered what was expected, having helped keep Spurs in the English top flight. This campaign, though, the Tottenham boss is meant to build on that performance and implement his own style of football. However, so far that has not brought about results on the pitch, with Spurs sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table after a winless opening five games. Not only are Tottenham last, but they are the second side with the fewest goals this season, having scored just two. Coventry are bottom with one. This is shocking from Spurs given how much they spent in the summer on recruits. A total of ten players were signed, with Tottenham spending close to £400 million, but that has done little to improve performances on the pitch.Of course, there is an argument that the players need time to gel, but Troy Deeney believes that rhetoric is only an excuse.Photo by David Balogh/Getty ImagesTottenham strikers compared with Troy Parrott and Will LankshearA big reason for Tottenham’s struggles this season is their inability to put the ball in the back of the net. Spurs are not entirely poor in the attacking third, as they do create good chances. In their last two games against Aston Villa and Liverpool, Tottenham created more opportunities than their opponents but still came away without a victory. When that happens, it is only right to point the finger at those up top, and for Spurs that has been Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush. The two have been charged with leading the line for Tottenham this season, but they have been disappointing.Marmoush and Solanke have a combined zero goals this season, which does not bode well. The numbers become even more painful when strikers who were once at Tottenham are putting up good returns.Omar MarmoushTottenham – Premier League (2026 – 2027)Appearances4Minutes Played341Average Rating6.65Shots5Shots on Target1Goals0Assists0Yellow Cards0Red Cards0Penalties Scored0Stats correct as of 2 October 2026.Spurs Web has now taken a look at the stats of ex-Tottenham youngsters Will Lankshear and Troy Parrott to see how they compare with Solanke and Marmoush.Parrott and Lankshear shine while Tottenham forwards struggleBased purely on output this season, there is no guessing where both Solanke and Marmoush fall in this comparison. Lankshear has been in sensational form since his move to Middlesbrough this summer. The young striker has played 11 matches in all competitions for his club and has returned an outstanding eight goals, although no assists.W. Parrott, meanwhile, comes in second, with the forward having managed two goals and an assist in seven club appearances this season for Real Betis. These records do not include international goals. Parrott has grabbed three for Northern Ireland, with his latest against Austria an absolute peach of a strike.Would you take Troy Parrott back at Tottenham? pic.twitter.com/PlDznUiQEY— The Spurs Web (@thespursweb) October 1, 2026Lankshear has also not been quiet during the international break either, scoring in England U21’s meeting with Kazakhstan U21. Spurs’ Marmoush managed two goals for Egypt in their clash against Sudan. Solanke, on the other hand, did not receive an England call-up this international break.Of course, while Lankshear is flying, it is worth noting that the young forward is performing in the second division of English football.Marmoush and Parrott definitely have it tougher, with the Egyptian playing in the Premier League and the Irish international in La Liga.Solanke, while an option for Spurs, has not had many minutes, but he has failed to impress in the few games he has played. While Tottenham fans are calling for Parrott and Lankshear to be brought back, there is no guarantee they would deliver in the Premier League, which is the toughest league in the world.Solanke himself had a pretty good season with Bournemouth before his move to Spurs but has struggled to reach that level again. Injuries certainly have not helped, but the Premier League is a different game entirely.Marmoush has shown in his international outing against Sudan that, against lower opposition, he is more than capable of scoring goals. Spurs also enjoyed themselves in the Carabao Cup against Championship side Charlton Athletic, beating the second division side 5-1.There are a few positive signs for Tottenham, and the hope is that their strikers find some form in front of goal as De Zerbi needs them firing if his side is to leave the foot of the table.READ MORE: ‘Ahead of schedule’ – Tottenham insider says Xavi Simons could return sooner than expectedThe post Stats show Tottenham should replace £120m Solanke and Marmoush with two familiar faces appeared first on Spurs Web.
