Tottenham Hotspur are closely watching the progress of a young German striker who has made a blistering start to the new season.Spurs Web has relayed a number of reports over recent weeks suggesting that the Lilywhites are scouring the market for a new striker ahead of January. That is far from surprising, especially with Richarlison looking certain to depart Tottenham in a cut-price deal after being left out of the club’s Premier League squad.De Zerbi’s men need a reliable goalscorer upfront, and they could turn to a 22-year-old who has been on their radar for many months.Photo by Domenic Aquilina/NurPhoto via Getty ImagesTottenham could battle Aston Villa for Nicolo TresoldiIt first emerged back in April that Spurs are admirers of Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi and had enquired about his availability.Subsequently, TEAMtalk claimed back in July that the Lilywhites had identified the 22-year-old as a potential alternative to Eli Junior Kroupi, after the Bournemouth man suffered an injury.A new update on FlashScore has claimed Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Tresoldi has not gone away, as the Premier League side continue to assess various options ahead of January. The report reveals that the German striker is also on the radar of Aston Villa, with both Premier League clubs expected to continue to watch him closely over the coming weeks. The report adds that Tresoldi’s performances in Brugge’s upcoming Champions League matches against Inter Milan and Liverpool could be particularly crucial for the two Premier League sides in deciding whether to substantiate their interest. Will Spurs change their transfer strategy in January?During the summer window, Tottenham prioritised Premier League-proven players and were willing to pay a premium to shop at the highest level.Tresoldi does not fit that mould, with the striker’s profile matching the kind of players Spurs used to pursue previously: a young talent with a high ceiling. One wonders if PSR considerations may force Tottenham to change their transfer strategy following their huge summer outlay.READ MORE: Stats show why Tottenham want Younes Ebnoutalib to replace Dominic SolankeThe post Tottenham and Aston Villa both want same German striker with 5 goals already this season appeared first on Spurs Web.
