Three people have been arrested in two separate drug cases after police seized nearly 100 sachets of suspected drugs in St Paul’s Bay and Marsa yesterday.The first case began at around 11am, when officers on patrol in Triq Ġulju, St Paul’s Bay, spotted a motorcyclist allegedly driving negligently and stopped him.Police said the 28-year-old Colombian man was found to be residing in Malta irregularly and was arrested. Officers subsequently accompanied him to his residence in Żebbuġ to check further documentation.During a search of the residence, police said they found around 40 sachets containing substances suspected to be cocaine, ketamine, MDMA and ecstasy, together with scales and other items allegedly linked to drug trafficking.Hours later, at around 6pm, officers on patrol in Marsa became suspicious of a vehicle in Triq in-Nagħal. Inside were a 37-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman.A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered around 56 sachets of suspected heroin, cocaine and synthetic cannabis, as well as cash. Police later searched the man’s Qormi residence, where they said they found further suspected drugs, cash and other items allegedly linked to trafficking.The Colombian man is expected to be arraigned before Magistrate Anne Marie Thake at around 10.30am today, while investigations into the Marsa arrests remain ongoing.•
