The European Union has imposed sanctions on two Iranian individuals and a unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This action targets those threatening freedom of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The EU is using new powers for the first time to sanction Iran for restricting navigation.
