Resident Evil 0 remake reportedly ‘rebooted’ with Capcom’s main team taking over

Wait 5 sec.

While we did get a new mainline Resident Evil this year with Requiem, Capcom’s remakes remain some of the most exciting projects in the franchise. These legendary titles were amazing for their time, but the company has evolved so much since then that giving them a new RE Engine coat of paint only serves to make them better. During SGF, Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil: Veronica, a Code Veronica remake or reimagining, is officially in the works, though rumor has had it for a while now that other old RE games are getting remakes soon, chiefly Resident Evil 0. Details are rather scarce regarding this remake, but according to reputable leaker Dusk Golem, RE0 was actually rebooted at some point during development, with Capcom’s main team, Division 1, taking over the project. “It got rebooted mid-dev, and Capcom Div 1 is currently leading it post-reboot,” they wrote on X. It got rebooted mid-dev & Capcom Div 1 is currently leading it post reboot.— AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem (@AestheticGamer1) June 10, 2026 Capcom Division 1 is the company’s primary studio, headed by Jun Takeuchi. It consists of four departments, each responding to Takeuchi directly. This division worked on basically every Resident Evil game since RE7 and spearheaded the development of the incredibly efficient RE Engine that we’ve come to see in each Capcom game since 2017. The person Dusk Golem responded to voiced concerns over RE 3 Remake‘s team being the one behind Zero, primarily due to the game’s bad reputation, not due to the quality of its content, but rather the lack thereof. However, knowing that it’s Capcom’s main developers handling the project is quite reassuring, as these folks have a near-impeccable track record over the last decade or so. Though one thing that could have a major impact on the remake is the reboot itself, since that’s probably going to push its potential release back by months, if not more. RE Engine is an efficiency machine that’s allowed Capcom to pump out games like there’s no tomorrow, but reboots and restarts are always going to influence things, no matter what. Still, though, I’m confident now that Zero, as well as Veronica, are going to be generational titles, and I can’t wait to see more of them. 0The post Resident Evil 0 remake reportedly ‘rebooted’ with Capcom’s main team taking over appeared first on Destructoid.
