Iran’s Foreign Ministry declared that Tehran was ready to agree, but claimed the US changed some terms of the proposal.By Vered Weiss, World Israel NewsPresident Donald Trump announced Thursday that a planned US military operation against Iran had been suspended as Washington moves toward what he described as a pending agreement with Tehran, though Iranian officials said a final decision has not yet been made.In remarks at the White House and in a series of public statements, Trump expressed confidence that the agreement would move forward.During an Oval Office event, he said a formal signing could take place soon, possibly in Europe, with Vice President JD Vance expected to attend. At a telerally for Georgia Lt. Governor Burt Jones, Trump declared, “I don’t know if you heard, but we ended the war with Iran today.”He also said, “They have agreed never to have a nuclear weapon, something that we insisted on; that was the whole purpose. That was 95 percent of it.”CNN reported that Trump further asserted, “Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has agreed to the deal. Everyone in Iran has approved the deal. It’s going to be implemented.”Earlier Thursday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that negotiations with the Islamic Republic had reached the highest levels of Iran’s leadership and had received approval, leading him to cancel planned military action.Tehran, however, indicated that the process remains incomplete.Iran’s Foreign Ministry said, “We previously declared that most clauses of the agreement have been settled, but the American side wanted to add new demands.”The ministry added, “The highest authorities will examine all clauses of any possible agreement, and we will announce our position later. What has been said about the time and place of signing the agreement is media speculation. The deal with Washington is not yet final.”Iranian media later reported there was “a high probability that the regime will approve that proposal.”According to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hadath channel, the proposal includes a 60-day ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, easing US sanctions and the blockade, and negotiations over uranium enrichment, inspections, verification measures, and future nuclear restrictions. The post Trump declares Iran war over, but Tehran stops short of approving deal appeared first on World Israel News.
