Woman says she and her friends were accused of stealing and given an ultimatum by a manager at a resort in Oklahoma

Wait 5 sec.

A woman has claimed that she and her friends were racially profiled by a manager at Marval Resort in Gore, Oklahoma. She alleged that the manager accused them of stealing and then gave them a choice: either have a chaperone for the rest of their trip or leave the resort entirely. The incident was captured on video and posted to TikTok, where it has since received over 59,000 views. A follow-up video was also posted by the same user to provide more context about what allegedly happened. According to the woman, the trouble started as soon as they arrived. She said, “the vibes were already weird” from the moment they checked in, suggesting the group felt unwelcome before the filmed confrontation even took place. Commenters say this is not the first time it has happened there The woman explained that the incident began after she and her friends found an engraved softball on the resort grounds. She said they decided to turn it in to the manager rather than keep it. She claims that instead of being thanked, the manager began accusing them of stealing, saying, “Who knows what they’re doing when no one’s watching.” The woman’s friend’s mother had reportedly already spoken with the manager before the video was recorded and believed the matter had been resolved. However, according to the woman, the manager later came to their cabin and allegedly began yelling at the friend’s mother again. The woman said she “tried to step in and tell her what really happened” at that point, which is when the argument shown in the video took place. In the video, the manager is heard saying, “Okay, so don’t say that’s not what they’re saying to me. You just said that.” When the woman attempted to explain what had happened, the manager allegedly told her, “You’re not of age,” to which the woman responded, “I am of age. Don’t do that.” The manager then told the group, “Get packed up and go.” It is worth noting that the woman stated all members of the group were 18 or older at the time of the incident. @kaiyrah_.docx Storytime coming next. #racism #fyp #blowthisup ♬ original sound – Kai. According to the woman’s follow-up video, the alleged ultimatum given by the manager was that either the friend’s mother would have to chaperone the entire trip, or the group would have to leave the resort. When recounting the events, she said, “I’m getting so mad right now.” @kaiyrah_.docx My storytelling skills are limited , if I left out any information yall ask questions #racism#fyp#blowthisup#oklahoma ♬ original sound – Kai. The woman said the group ultimately chose to stay in their cabin at the resort but only took part in activities that were outside of the Marval Resort grounds for the remainder of their stay. This is not an isolated case, as a Black woman faced racial profiling on her first day in a new neighborhood in a similar incident that also went viral. The TikTok video drew a range of responses in the comments section. Some viewers said they wanted more context before forming an opinion. One wrote, “I want the other side of this because y’all posted this like you did nothing wrong and there’s no context,” while another said, “I’d like to know the background story of the video. I know the lady was being mean, but what’s going on here?” Others, however, said the incident was consistent with experiences they had heard about before. One commenter wrote, “This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of racism there.” Another said the behavior of the staff had already driven their family away, writing, “We used to love going on family vacations here. We do not go anymore because of the rude staff, increased prices.”  At the time of writing, Marval Resort has not publicly responded to the claims made in the videos. Disputes over belongings at vacation rentals have also made headlines recently, as one woman discovered after forgetting a $3,000 item at a Miami Airbnb.
