A frustrated Birżebbuġa resident has criticised police staffing levels after claiming officers were unable to respond to reports of a heavily intoxicated man who defecated and urinated outside their home before harassing members of the public.In a social media post, the resident said they and others spent hours tracking the man through Birżebbuġa while waiting for police assistance, only to be told that different units were unavailable.According to the account, officers from the Birżebbuġa police station were occupied at court, Community Police officers were attending an event and lacked transport, while the Rapid Intervention Unit reportedly deemed the incident insufficiently serious to intervene.The resident claimed they managed to locate the man several times after he repeatedly fled, but eventually gave up waiting for law enforcement to arrive.They also alleged that no action was taken against the individual despite claims that he had urinated and defecated outside their property, stripped in public and harassed passers-by while visibly intoxicated during the morning.
