Chef Sean Gravina has officially parted ways with Crust, the popular restaurant brand he founded and helped grow over more than a decade. In a post shared on social media, Gravina revealed that he and his partners decided around a year ago to put the business on the market. Crust was officially listed in February 2026 and sold within a month, with the final paperwork completed last week.“Crust was a brand I built from the ground up,” Gravina wrote. “It was never just a business to me; it was a project that carried a huge part of my life, energy, passion and dreams.”The chef, who has become one of Malta’s best-known culinary personalities through his restaurants, television appearances and hospitality ventures, said the decision to sell came after it became clear that certain aspects of the business no longer made sense. While admitting it was difficult to walk away from something he had spent more than 10 years building, Gravina expressed gratitude towards his partners and reflected on the lessons he learned throughout the journey. He also shared advice for aspiring chefs and entrepreneurs, stressing the importance of ensuring that investors and founders share the same long-term vision from the start.Despite closing this chapter, Gravina hinted that new projects may already be on the horizon. He revealed he has been approached by several investors and individuals about potential future ventures but plans to spend the summer focusing on family, his other businesses and taking some time to reset before deciding on his next move. Most of all, Gravina thanked the thousands of customers who supported Crust over the years.“You were the reason Crust existed and the reason it became what it was,” he wrote.End of an era or the start of something bigger?•
