IRGC claims IDF used air-launched ballistic missiles in strikes on Iran, after Trump said he would ask Netanyahu to hold off on retaliating.By David Rosenberg, World Israel NewsIsrael launched a wave of airstrikes against targets in western and central Iran early Monday, hours after Iranian missile fire toward Israel and despite a push by President Donald Trump to prevent further escalation.An army spokesperson said the Israeli Air Force struck military targets “belonging to the Iranian terror regime” in Iran.Israeli reports said approximately 15 targets were hit, including an airport and a UAV storage facility, while Iranian media reported explosions in Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj and Tabriz.Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran was also reportedly targeted.Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the Israeli attack and claimed Israel used air-launched ballistic missiles. Iranian state media said Israel had struck inside Iran without Israeli aircraft entering Iranian airspace.The IDF said that Israel’s chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, and other senior IDF commanders directed the operation from the Israeli Air Force command center.“The IDF is alert and prepared for continued action on all fronts against anyone who threatens the State of Israel,” the military said.The strikes followed an Iranian missile barrage toward Israel late Sunday, which Israel said was intercepted. Sirens sounded in multiple parts of the country, including northern Israel, the Sharon region and Samaria.Magen David Adom said several people were injured while rushing to shelters, including a woman who was moderately wounded. Fire and Rescue Services reported fires in open areas in the Galilee and Golan Heights caused by interception debris.Iran launched an additional barrage of missiles just before 7:00 a.m. on Monday, with air raid sirens sounding across central Israel.Four homes in an Israeli town in Samaria were seriously damaged in Monday morning’s attack by Iran, though no injuries were reported.The IDF retaliated with a second wave of strikes, targeting an Iranian petrochemical facility, a military spokesperson said Monday morning.“The Air Force, guided by Military Intelligence, struck several targets a short time ago at the petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran.”The escalation came after Israel struck a Hezbollah command center in the Dahieh suburb of Beirut on Sunday.Trump spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the Iranian missile attack and reportedly urged him to hold off on retaliating.Just before his phone call with Netanyahu, Trump told Axios he would urge the Israeli premier not to order counterstrikes on Iran.“Israel has responded enough, no need for more,” Trump told Israel’s public broadcaster KAN.He also told Axios that the United States was “very close to a final deal with Iran” and warned, “I don’t want it to blow up because of what is happening now.”Saudi Arabia issued an early warning alert in Al-Kharj Governorate, home to Prince Sultan Air Base, which hosts US forces.
