There’s been a new development in the reimagining of The Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop at Disney Springs. On June 1, Inside the Magic reported that the 29-year-old dessert shop plans to temporarily relocate from the Marketplace to the Town Center area as construction crews reimagine the original Walt Disney World Resort location. The document contracts Dynamic Aspects to install “signage” on the building, suggesting that the dining location plans to modify its iconic light-up sign. However, the permit doesn’t specify whether the chocolate shop plans to replace or refurbish its current sign. Like most construction permits at Walt Disney World Resort, it expires in 2027.Sometime this summer, The Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop will temporarily move to an unoccupied space in the Town Square area at Disney Springs. The restaurant will serve guests there while construction crews reimagine the Marketplace building it has occupied since 1996.
