Arthur had been spending some time familiarising himself with all the observable skill matrices within his Quintessence. Even if he didn’t want to cheat and hasten his development—at least not excessively—learning exactly how all his skills worked would only help his growth. It was during one such foray into his soul that Arthur discovered something interesting. Relative to his tiny size within his quintessence, his skill matrices were the size of planets and the orbs containing his Soul Splinters, red dwarfs orbiting around the G2 star at the centre of everything. Beside the orb containing The House of The End, Arthur found a tiny speck. Anywhere else in the universe, such a small thing would have just been some space debris, but within his soul, everything had to have some kind of meaning. Arthur approached his Soul Splinter, marvelling at how massive everything here truly was. The tiny speck he’d seen from so far away turned out to be a translucent sphere with a radius of 500 meters. It took Arthur a few seconds to realise that this was the soul storage he’d gained by feeding his Soul Splinter his ring. Far more interesting than that, though, was the rune he found hovering in the space beside it. The rune was small, about the same size as his current energy body, and very, very familiar. After all, Arthur had spent the last 72 hours painstakingly carving it again and again into as many objects as he could find. The linking control rune. It was made from the same blue energy as his current form, with streaks of purple running through it. That was the touch of the void. Seeing a visual representation of all his efforts over the past few days was certainly welcome, but it raised a whole bunch of questions. Why did a rune he’d learned to inscribe show up in his soul?Next to it hovered a simple, straight line of void-touched energy, the conduit rune. Mastering it has been (...)
