Haji Wright’s sensational season with EFL Championship winners Coventry City has earned him a major nomination. Wright was nominated for the PFA Championship’s Player of the Season award for the 2025-26 campaign, the English Association announced Thursday. The Sky Blues forward is one of six players nominated for the annual award, being joined by fellow teammates Carl Rushworth, Matt Grimes, Jack Rudoni, as well as Swansea City’s Zan Vipotnik and Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on August 25. Wright was influential in Coventry City’s promotion to the English Premier League this season, scoring 18 goals in all competitions. The 28-year-old was one goal shy of tying a career-best for a single campaign. He started off the season on a high note by scoring in five-straight matches across all competitions (August 16-September 13). Despite Wright hitting a dry spell between October-December, he picked up his production once again during the winter-spring months by scoring a hat trick against Middlesbrough on February 16.Wright also netted in three-consecutive fixtures during the Sky Blues’ six-match winning run in late-February-early March. Frank Lampard’s men finished top of the EFL Championship standings with 95 points earned in 46 matches. Wright is currently part of the U.S. men’s national team’s World Cup squad this summer and will be seeking his first international minutes since November when Mauricio Pochettino’s men face Germany in their sendoff match on Saturday.
