Sharing information between Galaxy phones and iPhones used to be a huge hassle until a few years ago. Thankfully, Apple has gradually opened its walled garden to make file sharing and data transfers a bit easier. Soon, it will also allow Galaxy phones and other Android devices to join iCloud Shared Albums.During its WWDC 2026 event earlier this week, Apple revealed that it is opening iCloud Shared Albums to Android and Windows devices. This will allow Android and Windows users to join an iCloud Shared Album created by an iPad, iPhone, or Mac user and share images and videos in full resolution. As a result, it will become easier for family members and friends to share photos and videos with one another. While Apple hasn’t detailed exactly how Android and Windows users will be able to join iCloud Shared Albums, it is likely that the album owner will be able to share a link with others. Using that link, users may be able to view existing photos and videos in the album and upload their own content through a web browser. On Windows devices, Apple already offers an iCloud app, and the company could add shared album-related features to it. So, whether you use a Galaxy phone, Galaxy tablet, or Galaxy Book laptop, collaborating with family members and friends could soon become much easier. iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 are expected to be released in September 2026, which is when the feature could go live.
