I think he is physically very strong for his age, so that is a positive. He will only get stronger and stronger. I did not see a lot of games from him, but of course, if you are in the Team of the Year playing for Hamburg, it means you are doing well.“Maybe he can do the pre-season [with Spurs] and show his qualities. But he is young, so if it is not this season, in the future he will definitely get a good chance to prove himself, get a regular start in the first team.“He will get the opportunity, of course, it is up to him to take the chances or not, but he has everything to become an unbelievable centre-back. He is strong, quick, good with his feet, even in the attacking box of the opponent, he can win some headers, score some goals, he is a very all-round complete defender.”Spurs youngster compared to Jan VertonghenSpeaking further to The Standard, Alderweireld explained why Vuskovic reminds him of former Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen, praising the teenager’s technical qualities and ability on the ball.Vertonghen was indeed a stalwart for Tottenham, spending eight seasons in north London, where he made 315 appearances for the club and earned a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year on two occasions. Vertonghen has since retired from club football. His performances at the back were key during Tottenham’s journey to the Champions League final in 2019, cementing his legacy as one of the most dependable centre-backs of the modern era.Alderweireld added when comparing Vuskovic to the Belgian: “He is more than just a defender. He scores all of the goals, and he is good with passing as well … he is not a typical defender, not only a no-nonsense defender. He has a lot more qualities about him. [I would compare him to] Jan Vertonghen. He is also good with things other than only defending with his head.”READ MORE: Tottenham fans left stunned at latest Jan Paul van Hecke transfer news – ‘How do we have this pull?’The post Luka Vuskovic reminds me of my old Tottenham teammate, says Toby Alderweireld appeared first on Spurs Web.
