Prime Minister Robert Abela has congratulated the candidates elected to parliament through today’s casual elections, saying the results further strengthen Labour’s parliamentary group for the work ahead.In a statement following the conclusion of the casual elections, Abela praised the successful candidates while also thanking all Labour Party candidates who contested the last general election.“Congratulations to the candidates elected through today’s casual elections for the Labour Party,” Abela said.He also expressed gratitude to the wider pool of Labour candidates who campaigned during the general election, saying their efforts helped secure the party’s “strong and historic mandate”.“I would also like to thank all the candidates who, during the general election campaign, contributed to securing the Labour Party a strong and historic mandate,” he said.Abela described today’s results as another step in reinforcing Labour’s parliamentary ranks as the government continues implementing its agenda for the current legislature.“Today, we have further strengthened our Parliamentary Group in support of the important work we intend to carry out during this legislature,” the Prime Minister said.The casual elections saw a number of candidates elected to fill parliamentary vacancies left by Labour MPs, with Ramona Attard, Naomi Cachia, Rebecca Buttigieg, Clint Azzopardi Flores, Mariah Meli, Alex Muscat, Franco Mercieca and Andy Ellul all securing seats in parliament.What do you make of the newly elected MPs?•
