Uganda Media Centre Executive Director Alan Kasujja has opened up about the life-changing lessons he learned after the passing of his mother while he was studying in the United Kingdom.Sharing his personal journey, Kasujja revealed that he was unable to travel home for his mother’s burial due to financial constraints, forcing him to attend the funeral virtually and rely on close friends to handle the burial arrangements on his behalf.According to Kasujja, the experience became a turning point in his life, teaching him responsibility and pushing him to become more purposeful in everything he does.He recalled being a struggling student in the UK at the time, with very little money to his name and still working hard to finance his education.“I attended my mother’s funeral on the phone. I depended on my friends back home to bury her for me. That was huge. I was a student in the UK and I think I had about 30 pounds in my account. I was just a broke guy who hadn’t been paid yet, and even if I had been paid, there wasn’t going to be much money because I was still paying my way through school.”He added that his mother’s death forced him to reassess his life and take greater responsibility for his future.“When she died, I realized that I needed to step up. I’ve been a different man since then. I live a purposeful life.”Douglas Lwanga sets the record straight on marriage rumorsReflecting on his journey, Kasujja expressed gratitude for the experiences he has had and the challenges he has overcome over the years.“There are so many things I’m grateful for, and I don’t want to bore you with sob stories. I’m grateful that I made lemonade out of lemons, and I continue to do that.”Govt spox Alan @kasujja opens up on @mindyourheadug podcast about profound grief, isolation in a foreign land, battling depression amid career shifts, and how love, resilience, and real friendships helped him rebuild.
