Two women have been arrested in connection with a series of alleged pickpocketing cases in Valletta.According to a report by Times of Malta, police said the arrests were made on Sunday afternoon after an officer patrolling near City Gate was alerted by a passerby who claimed to have witnessed the two women stealing items from another woman.The officer immediately approached the suspects and arrested them at the scene.The women were later arraigned in court on Tuesday, where they admitted to theft-related charges.The arrests come amid growing concern over pickpocketing incidents in Valletta during the start of the tourist season.According to reports, tourist guides have raised concerns about an apparent increase in thefts targeting both visitors and guides themselves.Ana De Barro, president of the Malta Union of Tourist Guides, said incidents had recently been reported around Upper Barrakka Gardens, the Valletta entrance and the bus terminus.She noted that while pickpocketing tends to rise during summer, this year has seen a more noticeable increase in reported cases.Have you noticed an increase in pickpocketing in Valletta?•
