The Guwahati High Court has upheld the Assam government's duty to clear reserved forests of encroachments. Alleged encroachers have been given 30 days to leave forest land. The court emphasized that reserved forest areas cannot be used for non-forest purposes without proper approval. Electricity connections will be disconnected for those who fail to comply. Reforestation efforts are also mandated.
